While hospitals around the country are continuing to face financial struggles, with many being forced to downsize and some smaller clinics facing closure, Henry Medical Center continues to thrive and prosper alongside the rest of its surrounding community in the Stockbridge region of Henry County, Georgia. Opening its doors on July 9th, 1979, Henry Medical Center has seen an amazing amount of success and growth as it has provided quality medical service to the community in the pristine, peaceful surrounding suburbs of Atlanta.
Windsor Daniel, a resident of Henry County, was responsible for founding the medical center. Daniel saw the need for a hospital to serve the community, however even he couldn’t have had the foresight to predict the type of growth that Henry County would experience in the following decades, nor the subsequent prosperity that the medical center itself would experience, a fact that is most readily seen by the physical expansion. Initially featuring only 104 beds, Henry Medical Center now supports 215 beds and treats upwards of over 7,500 people on a yearly basis. Indeed, this subtle community medical service has become what is now a prosperous medical center.
Beginning as a small rural hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia, serving a county of just 35,000 residents, it was truly only inevitable that Henry Medical Center would see amazing growth given how the county has grown to over 160,000 residents, and is additionally one of the fastest growing counties in the country. The center itself has had to expand its own services, and now offers a wider range of medical services than its founder could have imagined, and additional serves not only the community, but each of the surrounding counties as well. This growth also led to a change of the name of the center from Henry General Hospital to Henry Medical Center to reflect the expansion of the hospital and addition of these numerous services, as well as in the center’s own changing mission to proactively work to meet future health challenges.
Today, Henry Medical Center holds 215 beds and operates as a not-for-profit hospital serving the community needs and the needs of the surrounding counties. It is located in Stockbridge, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, on Eagle’s Landing Parkway. In all, the success that this medical center has witnessed is truly incredible, and it is very pleasant to see such a great service provider to continue to thrive as many similar medical facilities are struggling to provide proper services, or even to keep their doors open for serving the community needs.
